An ancient jewel of a volcano Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatau), a remnant of the massive Krakatoa explosion erupts with a bang in the otherwise silent seas of the Sunda Strait. The larger parent volcano which exploded in 1883 which killed nearly 40,000 people and threw out so much ash that it lowered global temperatures by 1.2 degrees centigrade the year following the explosion.
